Intentions & Plans of "Love the Elderly"

As I said in this post, the intentions of  "Love the Elderly" is to build a Community Centre for the "invisible generation".
In Romania, there are Day Centres for children, but not many for the elderly and the lonely disabled.
The ones that exist have different purposes than what we think it's appropriate and useful for my village (or villages in general).

My sister is a nurse, however, we are not aiming for a Day Care Centre with doctors and medical treatments, but more for recreational and spiritual/moral purposes.

Once the building is up and fully operational, after careful consideration and much thought, we came up with these main intentions and services (for free, of course):

  • provide transportation to the disabled people to the centre and back home
  • help elderly and disabled to have a bath or a shower
  • provide manicure, pedicure and coiffure services
  • get people together and provide social activities such as craft and hobbies, games, outings and entertainment
  • provide a cooked meal and refreshments
  • organize computer and internet courses
  • do their laundry
  • provide moral and spiritual support
We also intend visiting the elderly, the ill and the disabled and help them keep the rooms clean and provide companionship.

We think that this is what "the forgotten generation" of my village (and other villages) needs most.
They are the most vulnerable and the loneliest humans in every country and they deserve better. Don't turn around and don't ignore the tears in their eyes.

We need funds and volunteers so please take a moment of reflection and ask yourself when was the last time you've made someone smile?
